Va Xiong Cha, a cherished mother, grandmother, devoted wife and friend, left this world peacefully surrounded by her loved ones on August 29th, 2024, at the age of 82. In 1942, she was born in Potho (Poj Tob) Laos. Va was the second daughter of Xai Lee (NtxhaisLis) and Thong Yo/Chong Sa Xiong (Tooj Yob/Txooj Xab Xyooj) and sister to 10 brothers and 8 sisters.
In 1960, Va met her husband, Chua Pao Cha (tshuas Pov Tsab), and together they raised a family filled with love and joy. She was the proud mother to 7 children (son: Tong, Tou Lue, Tou Cher, Chia & Tony; daughter: Nplia & Lue), grandmother to 22 grandchildren, great grandmother to 7 great grandchildren, whom she loved with unwavering devotion.
During the Vietnam War, Va and Chua Pao made the brave decision to leave their homeland in search of a better future for their family. In 1979, with the help of the Tolt Congregational United Church, they made their way over to the United States, where they settled in Carnation, Washington. In this small, rural town, Va became a visionary entrepreneur and one of the first Hmong florist at Seattle's Pike Place Market which helped inspire other local Hmong farmers to follow. She founded Va Cha Gardens in 1990, transforming her passion into a flourishing floral and fresh produce business that continues to serve the community for more than 20 years.
Va had a big heart and a deep desire to help those in need. She was always generous, often giving away free food and flowers to anyone struggling, ensuring no one went without. Her kindness touched countless people and her generosity brought comfort and joy to many. She instilled the values of love, resilience, and hard work in her children, ensuring that her legacy would continue to thrive in their hearts.
Va will live on in the hearts of her loved ones and the many she touched through her kindness, generosity, and unwavering love. Though she is no longer with us, her spirit will continue to inspire many individuals. She will be deeply missed, but never forgotten, as her memory will forever remain a guiding light in the lives of all who had the privilege of knowing her.
