With our sister Irene by her side, our Mom passed peacefully from this world on Friday, April 8th. We're sure she fell right into the arms of our father, Donald Zellner, who passed away in 2001. Our parents lived full happy lives together. Whether it be weekend car rides, picnics, BBQ's with friends and family, our parents enjoyed each other's company, even if sometimes you couldn't tell by my moms frown. Our father's big personality and ease of laughter permeated our every function and oh how he loved his "Nita." They shared the love of music (dancing), friends, and dressing to the nines. We remember Saturday afternoons they would come down the stairs dressed in their finest. Our Dad with his his perfectly fitting slacks, shirt and leather jacket, with his fine jewelry of gold nugget and turquoise and Mom with her perfectly coiffed hair, fancy dress or pants suit and her own special blend of jewelry. Lovely they looked as they set off to go shopping at Gemco. Once our Dad passed, life never was as full again for Mom.
Born of mexican immigrant parents, Anita spent her 93 years in Sacramento, CA. She worked and retired from the California State Department of Motor Vehicles after over 25 years. Anita enjoyed listening to Vicki Carr and Connie Francis and would put them on while we all busied ourselves helping in our weekly chores. Her love for shopping was notorious, but going with her meant patiently standing by as she looked at everything, and if by chance you left her side for a moment, good luck finding her since she couldn't be seen over the store racks. She loved clothes, shoes, purses and most of all jewelry.
Anita is survived by her (three siblings), Irene, Margie and Richard; (her six children), Irene (Donald), Philip (Martha), Mona, Yvonne (Joseph), Muriel (Bill) and Yvette; (Twelve) Grandchildren; (Twenty) Great Grandchildren; and (Six) Great Great Grandchildren. The legacy of a well lived life!
Our family would like to send special thanks to The Whispering Pines Senior Home that treated our Mother with love and compassion throughout her stay. Irina and Helen are Angels!
