Betty M. Clancy died in Carmichael, CA on 7/4/2020, at the age of 100 years. Born in Fennimore, WI, on 11/14/1919 to Walter & Erma Ashmore, she graduated from Fennimore High School. After attending Madison Business College, she lived and worked in Milwaukee, WI, St. Louis, MO, Des Moines, IA, Los Angeles, CA, before moving to Honolulu, HI, in 1944, where she met and married a young U.S. Army Air Corps soldier, George Mellas. Betty & George moved multiple times before settling in Sacramento, CA, upon his retirement as a USAF Major. They remained married until his death in 1984. Subsequently, she was married to Joe Clancy in 1999, until his death in 2017. Betty was a member of the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Sacramento, having joined in 1965, and resided at Eskaton Village in Carmichael at the time of her death. She is survived by her children, Sharon Herfert and John Mellas (and his wife, Nancy); Betty’s brother, Dean Ashmore, (and his wife, Carol); grandchildren include, Andrea Clabaugh and Ken Clabaugh; step-children include Mike Clancy, Lori Schmidt, (and her husband, Kurt), and many more family & step-family members. Betty was predeceased by her sister, Barbara Birchman. Betty was loved by all, and will be greatly missed.
