Malvern “Bill” Malmstrom was born January 5, 1951, in Sacramento, California to Catherine Malmstrom. He was raised in Rancho Cordova and was a graduate of Cordova High School’s Class of 1969. After furthering his education, Bill worked for Intel Corp. for 27 years as a highly respected CQ&R Engineer until retirement at the age of 51.
In retirement, Bill took great joy in going on adventures and spending time with his kids and grandkids. He shared with them some of his favorite hobbies – painting rocks, making jewelry, camping, and trips to the beach. Many memories were made in trips to Hawaii as well as several cruises to exciting destinations. He eventually returned to his love of music in managing RevolutionBeat, a local Beatles tribute band for the past 9 years.
In 1970, Bill married his high school sweetheart and love of his life, Linda Rhoades. They met one afternoon when Linda came to audition as lead singer in his band. (She got the job and the man!) They were married for 54 years. Together they built a family and a life filled with adventure, love and laughter. Bill was a devoted dad to son Jeremy Malmstrom, and his two daughters, Kristen Rogin and Carrie Reid as well as their spouses, Amanda Malmstrom, Aaron Rogin, and Chris Reid. His grandchildren, Parker and Jeremy (Buzz) Malmstrom Jr., Paige, Elliott, and Maia Rogin, and Cameron and Carter Reid loved and greatly miss their Papa every day. He’s also survived by his two sisters, Nancy Everly Rees from Ohio and Cathy Everly DeBoard from South Carolina.
Bill will be lovingly remembered for his kindness, compassion, silly “Dad jokes” and, among other things, his love of life. He always showed us how much we were loved every day in the little things he’d do. He was a true romantic, one of the most caring people in our lives. This world is a better place to have had him in it.
Bill quietly slipped away on Sunday, July 28th, 2024, at his home in Cameron Park, after a heroic battle with cancer. He was surrounded by his loved ones throughout his life, and up until his last moment. He was 73 years young. We miss you and love you so much, Bill. Until we meet again…Rest in paradise! Rock on! (We love you more!) B+L…Forever
