Carrie Mae Hill, was born February 13, 1920, in Weed, California. She was the loving daughter of Jimmie and Ludella Johnson, who preceded her in death. Carrie graduated from Mt. Shasta High in 1938. While a student there, she was an active member in the school choir and on the debate team. She then went to Nursing School where she received her degree in Licensed Vocational Nursing. Carrie furthered her education by attending cosmetology school where she obtained her Cosmetology license.
She then met and married the late Rev. Charles Hill for fifty years, until his death in 2006. She raised three sons Michael, Vincent, and Marlowe. Being a mother was her greatest passion in life, and she raised each of her boys to become gentleman and productive members of society. She adored all three equally and attended to all of their needs, always putting them first. If an award were to be given for greatest mother of the year, she would have taken home that honor every year! Also, Carrie raised several foster children and cared for every child in Freeport Manor and surrounding neighborhoods. If you were hungry, she fed you. If you needed shelter, she housed you. She never turned down a child in need.
Carrie was a member of the Eastern Star's, Woman's Civic Club and a member of Shiloh Baptist Church’s choir. She devoted her life to Christ at a very early age. She shared her Christian values with every one she met and was an absolute joy to be around. She touched so many lives including those who took care of her when she became ill. The caring staff at St. Francis loved her, and they enjoyed hearing her stories about her boys and listening to her sing, “This Is The Day”. Her caregivers spoiled her until the end with the best care and love available. The family appreciates this so very much.
Carrie transitioned this earthly place January 6, 2014, and is survived by three loving sons, Michael, Vincent, and Marlowe; eight beautiful grandchildren, Angela, Kiari, Angelica, Darvin, Victor, Zuberi, Tonya, and Angelina; and a host of extended family and friends.
Carrie will forever be missed by many! Rest in Peace.
