

Reverend Chan Kim of Folsom, CA went home to be with the Lord on March 10, 2016. He passed away peacefully at UC Davis Medical Center after struggling from health issues surrounded by his family and friends. Chan was born in Seoul, Korea on January 24, 1967 to his parents, Myung Soo and Janice (Lee) Kim. He was the youngest of 4 children, Jennifer, Mischell, and Kenneth Kim. When he was 4 years old, the family immigrated to the United States and settled in California. After attending high school in the valley, he graduated San Jose Christian College in 1995. Soon after, he attended Fuller Seminary school in Pasadena, California. After graduating Fuller in 2005, he became an ordained pastor in 2006. He served on staff in many churches throughout Northern California as a Youth and English Ministry Pastor. He served at West Valley Presbyterian Church, San Jose New Life Church, Living Stone Ministry, Capitol Korean Presbyterian Church, and Ark Mission. He touched many lives with his passion for God which was evident in his every day actions. He was a great example of humility and humbleness as no task was too menial for him. Even in his Sunday suit, he was always cleaning up trash after fellowship meals. He also volunteered his time serving the homeless at Union Gospel Mission. He led several mission trips to Mexico and Native American reservations. He loved serving God and also spending time with his family and friends. He is survived by his love of his life and wife of 23 years, Diane, and his two amazing children, Kylie and Brandon. Chan was a devoted husband and father and did everything he could for his children. He loved going to Starbucks and Jamba juice for his daughter and sat through numerous cheer events. He coached his son starting at the age 5 in baseball, basketball, and football. From this, his passion for coaching began. He was an integral part of the newly formed Vista Jr. Eagles organization. His dedication and commitment to the program and the athletes were evident as he not only coached, but volunteered game after game from morning till dark. His legacy continued onto Vista High School where he coached for another 4 years. He was always cheering on every athlete, past or present, with words of encouragement and positive feedback. These last 3 years, he also enjoyed being an umpire at little league to high school baseball games all throughout Sacramento. His family would like to invite everyone that wish to join in his Celebration of Life service on Wednesday, March 16, 2016 at Mount Vernon Memorial Park and Mortuary located at 8201 Greenback Lane, Fair Oaks, CA 95628.
