Making a difference in people’s lives is often cited by many as a goal, for Dolores it was a way of life. Beginning with her career in the US Coast Guard during WWII she went on to become a librarian, a secretary and a licensed vocational nurse committed to the service of others. However the role that truly inspired Dolores was being a matriarch of the Mitchell-Pompliano clan. Her family was her world and everything revolved around them. Born and raised in Jersey City, NJ, Dolores relocated to California in 1974 and El Dorado Hills in 1994. As a consummate global traveler, she still found time to knit, crochet and cook huge family dinners. At 87 years young, Dolores has been the lynchpin of a dynamic family and her inspiring impact on them will be felt for generations.
She is survived by her sisters, Donna, Cheryl, and brother Donald, five children Robert Jr., Sharon, Maggie, Debbie and Walter, eleven grandchildren, Kimberly, Jennifer, Wendy, Brian, Zachery, Brett, Dominic, Cameron, Frank-Paul, Matthew, Julie and five great-grandchildren, Johnny, Adriana, Gracie, Ellie and Mallory. She is preceded in death by her husband Robert Joseph Pompliano, brothers Walter, Kenneth and sister Marjorie.
Viewing will be on Wednesday February 8, at 5pm at Mt. Vernon Memorial Park and Mortuary with the Rosary beginning at 7 p.m. The funeral mass will occur on Thursday at 11a.m. at St. John the Baptist in Folsom, CA. Interment to follow at Mt. Vernon Memorial Park at 1pm.
