Donald Gordon Brookshire

June 5, 1933 – May 18, 2019

Much loved husband, father and grandfather, died of advanced Alzheimer’s at 8:00 pm on Saturday, May 18, 2019, at the Community Home Health and Hospice Center in Vancouver, Washington.

Don was a proud Veteran of the Korean War and prior to his time in service, attended Peacock Military Academy in San Antonio, Texas. He was a graduate of North Texas State University where he received his Bachelor’s degree in marketing and enjoyed a long career in that field with various national corporations.

He is survived by Dee Brookshire, his wife of 39 years; Mary Brookshire, his first wife of 25 years; four children, David Brookshire of Citrus Heights; Diane Brookshire (Elizabeth Holman) of Denver, Colorado; Michael Brookshire (Genni) of Auburn, Washington; Izzy Brookshire Sacramento, CA. He was predeceased by grandson, Brennon Brookshire and has four surviving grandchildren, Brittani Brookshire of Prescott, AZ, Bryce Brookshire (Yarely) of Roseville, Makenzie and Nicholas Brookshire, Fair Oaks, CA.

He loved his family very much and fought to the end to stay, but in the end he passed on to greet the extensive welcoming committee of family, friends and pets who had gone before him.

We will miss him and will forever keep him in our hearts.

A Celebration of Life and Reception will be held on June 29th at 11:00 am at the Mount Vernon Memorial Park in Fair Oaks, California.
