Dorothy Jane Carlson

Dorothy Jane "Janie" Carlson passed away April 16, 2021 at the Brookdale Senior Living Center in Folsom, California from natural causes at the age of 98. She was born on March 23, 1923 in Youngstown, Ohio, the daughter of John and Edla Larson. Janie graduated from Bethel College in St. Paul, Minnesota in 1943, and married Harold S. Carlson on August 28, 1945.

Gifted in music, she became an outstanding pianist and organist in her early years, playing for her high school and college choirs, and several church choirs in the years following. Her husband of 55 years was a Baptist General Conference minister serving five churches in Minnesota and California.

Janie was a wonderful pastor's wife with a loving presence and endearing smile in addition to being the "best mom ever". In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Rev. Harold S. Carlson, sisters Gladys Samuelson and Virginia Rosenquist, and her son Dr. Ronald Carlson.

Surviving is her son Dr. James Carlson (Marilyn), her daughter-in-law Marge Carlson, daughter Julie Ann Connor (Randy); Grandchildren David Carlson, Jonathan Carlson, Candace Carlson, Jason Carlson, Jared Carlson, Patrick Connor, Kristin Connor; and fifteen great grand children.

The family would like to thank Brookdale Senior Living Center for their professional and kind care during her last few years. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that you consider making a memorial contribution to Christian Ministries International, www.christianministriesintl.org, in her honor. A memorial service and celebration of life will be scheduled at a later date. Inurnment will take place at Tulocay Cemetery in Napa, CA.
