Gerald "Jerry" Lee Meidinger

Jerry committed his life to Jesus Christ in January 1987, being baptized soon after at Trinity Church in Sacramento. Jerry loved praise, worship, & hearing God’s Word. 21 years ago Jerry & Sandy moved to the Family church in Orangevale, Ca where Sandy ministered as the Children’s Pastors. He was her right hand, becoming involved in Kid’s Church, Kid’s Camp, Kid’s Conferences, Fun Fairs, Easter Outreaches. Jerry loved serving God in this church, serving under Pastor Rich Oliver for the past 20 years. He was involved in many church ministries, outreaches, & functions. He served on the church board for many years, becoming a church elder in recent years. He was our church’s head usher. He was the chief cook at the many food functions, primarily pancake breakfasts & barbeques for many & various functions. He would direct traffic, do transporting, run the ticket booth at the Fun Fairs – anything he could do to help in the background, he would do. As head usher, he was responsible for making sure parents, when their child’s number lit on the platform monitor, would see it & go to the nursery to see to their needy child. When, for some reason, there was a confusion on the sign-in sheet & the parent was not known, Jerry would hold the child & walk up the aisles until the parent would see their child & respond. Pastor never minded & would continue with his sermon, trusting Jerry to take care of it. Once, the sign was not working, & a mother was very much needed by her child. So Jerry wrote the child’s number down on a big sheet of paper, entered the back way onto the platform, walked quietly behind Pastor with the sign upraised until the mother saw the sign…Pastor never knew. People were so used to seeing Jerry work behind the scenes & Jerry had such a quiet way about him that order was never disturbed. He served as head usher until he no longer had the strength…he really missed giving it up & he would help as often as he could.

A Memorial Service will be held in his honor on Saturday, September 1 at 11am at the The Family Church at 1529 Eureka Road, in Roseville, CA
