Gilbert Williams passed away suddenly but peacefully on Easter Sunday which was his favorite day of the year. He was born in 1924 in Rule, Texas. The family moved to Oklahoma in the 1930's and then to Mendota, California in 1941 after his father was offered a job there. Gilbert worked as a ferry boat pilot, mechanic, logging truck driver, and as a cement mason before opening his own concrete contracting business which he operated until his retirement. His interests included dredging for gold, searching with his metal detector, four-wheeling through the Sierras and exploring ghost towns across Nevada. He was a member of the "Oly Rollers" 4WD club based in Fair Oaks, Ca.
Gilbert is survived by his wife of 66 years, Betty Williams, brothers David Williams of Stockton, Jim Williams (Carol) of Union City and Rex Williams (Walli) of Castle Rock, Colorado. He is also survived by his sons Clifford Williams (Judy) of Rancho Cordova, Russell Williams (Debra) of Latrobe and daughter Nancy (Henrik) Hansen of Fairfield. He is also survived by eleven grandchildren: Susan, Christopher, Teresa, Jeff, Steve, James, Valerie, Cathryn, Christine, Kelli and Stephanie and fourteen great-grandchildren. His family and friends were the most treasured aspects in his life, and he is dearly missed.
