

Jack was born on November 15, 1937 in Pratt, KS to Walter and Elvira Northrop (Meredith). He was the second youngest of thirteen children and joined the U.S. Navy at the age of 17, serving from 1955 to 1958 in the Pacific. He was discharged at Port Hueneme, CA as a Petty Officer, Second class.
Jack moved to the Bay Area, living in Half Moon Bay and settling in Redwood City. He spent the next fifty years working in construction, running jobs as a Foreman for several national construction companies. He was a lifetime member of the International Brotherhood of Painters and Allied Trades. He married JoAnn Figaro, and raised two sons, Jon and Steven Northrop.
On June 5, 1976, Jack married Bonnie Jean Alger, the love of his life. Together, they raised a blended family that included Dan Figaro and Michelle Figaro (Hart). Jack and Bonnie relocated to Lincoln Hills in 2015.
In addition to fatherhood, Jack enjoyed golfing, reading, writing, remodeling his home, and hosting family events. He was an avid fan of the SF Giants and 49ers, Mexican food, and margaritas.
Jack was preceded in death by his father, Walter, mother, Elvira, twelve siblings, wife Bonnie, son Steven, and granddaughter Elizabeth. He is survived by his son, Jon Northrop (Debra Nunez) of Folsom, stepson Dan Figaro, of San Carlos, and step daughter, Michelle Hart, of Roseville, nine grandchildren, and four great grandchildren.
A celebration of life ceremony will be held at Mt. Vernon Memorial Park in Fair Oaks, CA on January 29, 2022 at Noon. Reception to follow.
