Irene Jane Harrah

Our loving mother and grandmother, Irene Jane Harrah, passed away peacefully on April 6, 2024. She was born on September 5, 1931 in Indianapolis, Indiana to Rozenia and Earl Hobson. She graduated from George Washington High School with her high school sweetheart Gerald Harrah by her side and they married shortly afterwards when he joined the US Air Force. Along with their two children they traveled in the military living in Florida, England and eventually made their home in California. Irene worked her entire career in banking and retired after more than 30 years as a loan officer.

Irene was known for her meticulous appearance and dress, tidy housekeeping, and prudent saving. Her favorite getaway with Gerald was a quick trip to Lake Tahoe to stay at the casino, maybe see a show and play a few slots.

Irene is survived by her son Steven Lee Harrah (wife Lori Harrah), 3 Grandchildren, Nicole Harrah-Schreiter, Brent Harrah and John Harrah and three Great-Grandchildren Elliot and Quinn Schreiter and Brittany Harrah. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 69 years, Gerald Lee Harrah, her son Joseph Michael Harrah, her brothers, Charles and Albert and sister Gloria as well as her parents Rozenia and Earl Hobson.

Irene was loved by all her friends and family and will be greatly missed.
