Passed away suddenly in his home in Fair Oaks, CA at age 56. He will be sadly missed by his son, Marine Staff Sergeant Ian Huffman (Jamie Huffman); grandchildren Sean, Aaron and Lauren; parents William and June Huffman and brothers Thomas and Robert Huffman. Also survived by his former wife Eileen Struck of Sacramento. He was preceded in death by his soul mate Shirley Burroughs of Lake City, FL. Born in Des Moines, IA, Jim was a graduate of La Sierra High School, where he excelled in baseball and track, and Northrop Rice Aviation Institute where he was trained as an aircraft mechanic. He was employed at numerous aircraft maintenance, repair and overhaul stations from Florida to Washington state until disabled in 2005.
He was a Navy Veteran and served as a volunteer at the California Aerospace Museum at McClellan Park. Prior to entering the aviation field, he was a noted rock musician in the Sacramento Area. Friends are welcome to join Jim's family in celebrating his life at 1:00pm on Sat. March 3, 2012 at Mount Vernon Mortuary, 8201 Greenback Ln, Fair Oaks, Ca. Reception to follow at the mortuary. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his name to the Aerospace Museum of California, 3200 Freedom Park Dr. McClellan, CA 95652 or West End Project, Trinity Life Center, 5225 Hillsdale Blvd. Sacramento, CA 95842.
