

as well as the last surviving child. At 17 he joined the army in 1934. Jim served in the Pacific during WWll and in Japan during the Korean War. During
his military service he received his GED and retired as Captain/Commander at the Presidio in San Francisco, 1957. In April 1957 he moved to Rancho
Cordova to work at Aerojet and remained in Rancho Cordova until his death. Jim was preceded in death by his first wife Pauline Hammond in 1946, mother of his son. His second wife Lilliemae Pickering passed in 2000. Jim was an active member of his community. This spring he received his 50 year pin from the Masons. He was also a member of the Shriners, the Kiwanis Club, the American River Grange and the Lion's Club. Jim was awarded the Cordova Community Council award for Outstanding Citizen in 2001. After retirement he stayed busy building wooden toys for the Shriner's Children's Hospital as
well as wooden hobby horses for FUSC Unified School District. Jim's face would light up as he presented each pre-school child with his or her hobby horse. Jim will be missed by the community, and those who knew and loved him. Jim is survived by his son, Jim, and daughter-in-law Sandy. His grand-daughters Rachael Patoray (husband Patrick) and Andrea Oft (husband Toby) and his great grandtwins Colin and Luci Oft. In lieu of flowers please send donations

will be held at Mt. Vernon Mortuary, Tuesday, Sept.6, 2011, at 10:00 A.M. Internment will be private.
