Michael James Walsh was taken from this earth to go meet his Heavenly Maker at the age of 51. Although he was taken from his family all too soon, he now walks with the Lord. His family is comforted by the knowledge that he is watching over and protecting each of us in death, just as he did in life.
Michael was a natural mechanic. He tore things apart just so he could put them back together again. He would take parts left from broken bicycles and with in hours build a ride able one for his siblings. He spent many long hours in his grand-father’s garage working on vehicles. He especially took pride in his 1967 classic Mustang. If something was broken Michael could always fix it.
Michael also had a great love of sports. He began boxing at the age of nine and shortly there after started playing youth football, which he excelled in through high school. Over the years he played softball, handball, and basketball. He could give any twenty year old a run for his money, even at the age of fifty-one. He was an avid Miami Dolphin fan and had many letters to the editor published in the Dolphin Digest.
Michael was a poet, storyteller, writer, confidant and protector. He mentored his nieces and nephews with humor and understanding. He also mentored young men around him. They are honoring him by placing a plaque with his name at home plate where he often played softball while trying to help them better their lives by sharing his generosity, experience, understanding and love.
Michael is survived by his devoted mother, Myrna Summers and step-father, Bruce Summers; step-daughter, Misty Herron; siblings, Shakati Walsh, Bill Walsh, Bobby Walsh, Amy Keene and Peggy Carmassi; five nephews and six nieces; two grand-nieces; sister-in-law, Margaret Walsh and two brothers-in-law, Richard Keene and Allen Carmassi; and several cousins.
He is predeceased by his father James Walsh and grand-parents, C.H. and Whynema “Nene” McGuffin.
He will be immensely missed by his entire family.
