Paul graduated high school in Bucklin, KS and attended college at the University of Northern Colorado in Greeley, where he met his wife Greta (Davis) of Ladora, Iowa. They were married in 1952 and had three children. Greta preceded him in death in 1985.
After graduation from UNC, Paul served as a pilot in the Air Force for over 20 years, flying the KC-135 tanker most of his career. He and his family were stationed in locations throughout the US, including Louisiana, North Dakota, and California, as well as several years in Spangdahlem, Germany. He also served in Vietnam from 1969-70. He retired to Citrus Heights from his last duty station at Travis AFB.
After retirement, Paul taught Automotive Mechanics at American River College.
In 1995, Paul married Paula (Pelletier) and they spent the last 22 years together. They were very active in their church and loved to go hiking and camping.
Paul was an avid golfer, and would walk 18 holes every day he had a chance. He had 3 holes-in-one; all after he turned 70. He was a long time member of Sons In Retirement and Order of Daedalians-Sierra Flight #27.
Those who knew him will remember his booming voice, quick smile and easy laugh.
He will be remembered by us as a loving husband, father and grandfather.
He is survived by his children Paul (Sacramento), Julie Lindke (Fred-Marengo, Iowa), and Beth (Eisenbach-Matzenbach, Germany), grandson Jakob (Ames, Iowa), wife Paula and her children Mark (Toni), Paul (Donna), Brian (Wendy) and grandchildren Danielle, Allison, Davis and Addison.
