My high school sweetheart for 4 years.  Randy was always the life of the party. He had a keen sense of humor and quick wit.  Those years left me with MANY fun memories from vacations with his family, to my sister discovering a 3 ft. Chinese cement headstone in the middle of our yard.  Both our moms found no humor in that prank and neither did Randy when he had to load it into his dad's truck without the help of his accomplice.  He always swore to me that he returned it to its rightful resting place?
Our lives took different paths, but we remained friends and stayed in touch for 50 years.  We often placed bets on NBA games.  He wasn't a good loser and still owes me $5.00!
When Randy needed a second kidney transplant and he told me Alexis was a match, I thought what a wonderful love story.  I was honored when they asked me to come stay with them during this procedure (Sophie and Baxter needed me).  
I talked to Randy and texted him several times during his last stay in the hospital and at the rehab facility.  At one point he told me he thought they were going to amputate his foot because he had a toe that wasn't getting circulation.  (Keep in mind that Randy's mechanism for dealing with adversities has always been HUMOR).  On Sept. 4, he sent me a text which simply stated, "They cut my big toe off my right foot."  I texted back asking if it was diabetes or peripheral neuropathy.  His immediate response was "It was a conspiracy to keep me off DANCING WITH THE STARS."  Through my tears, I texted him back and asked if he had any flip flops he wanted to get rid of.  His sense of humor defined who he was and followed him to the end.
After he was sent home with Hospice Care, I called Alexis a few times to check on him.  She was very gracious to put the phone to his ear so I could talk to him - to tell him I would see him in Heaven and that I loved him.  Barely audible, he whispered back.  That was SO meaningful for me.  
I will miss you my FOREVER friend.  You ARE now DANCING WITH THE STARS and with the Angels.  Until we meet again...
P.S.  Make amends with the Chinese man whose headstone you "borrowed"

I had such good times with Randy! He had such a great sense of humor, he made me laugh all the time and just so nice to be around. Every year I looked forward to a Christmas card from him - sadly, it was our only communication these last 10 years. Cheers to you Randy, we had so many good times together!

As I sadly count the years I have known this great person.  I can't count the fantastic times, good times, and bad times we have shared together. The party's, the talks, the JUST FRIENDSHIP, his love for Alexis, and I can go on mentioning things for a long time.  I will miss my friend, but will remember him.  Rest in Peace, My Friend, until I see you again.

Randy was one of my first boyhood friends.  He probably appeared in as many of my class pictures as anyone.  When we were boys, we played constantly.  All sports, all games.  In the street, at the schoolyard.  By the time we began to compete against others, we probably had played a thousand games with and against each other.  He was a really good friend for a long and important time in my life.  I know that he is gone but he will be with me for the rest of my life.  Good bye, old friend.  Big 5 forever.

Randy and I were friends from the second grade on.  We had a million laughs together in high school and stayed in touch over the years although he moved away from Fresno.  He was one of my dearest friends.  May he rest in peace.  He will not be forgotten.  I loved him like a brother.
