

Robert E. Koenig, 87, of Folsom, California, passed away peacefully on October 21, 2017, in Granite Bay, California. He was born on April 5, 1930, in Omaha, Nebraska, to Vernal J. and Regina Ann (Donlin) Koenig. He was preceded in death by his parents, infant daughter, Karen Lee, son Gary Michael, and brother, Ron. Robert was married to Betty Wilson in 1951 and Phyllis Booth in 1976. Robert is survived by Phyllis, his loving and devoted wife of 41-1/2 years, son Robert K. (Karen), daughter Kathryn (Mike), step-sons Greg and Jeff (Michele) Booth, 4 grandchildren, 4 step-grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren and sisters Donna and Mary.
Robert’s early years were spent in Nebraska and South Dakota, having moved with his parents and siblings to Red Bluff, California, in 1945. He enlisted in the U. S. Air Force in 1950 and served in Texas, Utah and the Panama Canal Zone, for 4 years. After his discharge he moved with his family to Redding, California, where he worked for Safeway and Purity Stores. He then was employed as a Business Agent for the Retail Clerks Union in Redding in January 1959 until his retirement in April 1983 as Chief Executive Officer. His hobbies were traveling and collecting antiques.
Family and friends are invited to a Visitation at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 28, 2017, at Mt. Vernon Memorial Park & Mortuary, 8201 Greenback Lane, Fair Oaks, California, followed by a Memorial Service at 11:00 a.m. A reception will be held following the Internment. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Parkinson’s Disease Research.
