Rosemary Roberts, 92, died March 8, 2021, at the Caring Families home in Elk Grove, California. She was born in Makanda, Illinois, May 31, 1928, to Emory and Cora Roberts. Rosemary and her mother moved to California at the end of WWII, where her sister, Velma, and brother-in-law, Harold, lived, and settled in Sacramento.
Rosemary graduated from McClatchy High School in 1947. In her early 20s she ministered with Youth for Christ and was a member of Sacramento Bible Church. She began working for the Sacramento City Library system in the late 1950s and remained employed by them until retiring in 1987.
Rosemary was very active in her church, using her knowledge to build and maintain the church library. She remained a member when the church became Meadowview Bible Church and later Elk Grove Bible Church.
Rosemary was much loved by her family and church. She was always smiling, always kind. Her nephews considered her their “second mother.” She was a truly good and giving person.
She is survived by her nephews, Dennis Roberts of Modesto and his wife, Elizabeth; Doug Roberts of Santa Rosa, and Marvin Roberts of Springfield, Illinois. She was preceded in death by her parents, her sister Velma, and her brothers Earl and Leroy. The family is grateful to Caring Families for the love they showed during Rosemary’s final two years of living with Alzheimer’s, and to Bristol Hospice for the spiritual and physical care they brought to her in her last months of life.
A graveside memorial will be held at noon Friday, March 19, 2021 at Mount Vernon Memorial Park, 8201 Greenback Lane, Fair Oaks.
