

passed peacefully in his home surrounded by family and friends after a brief battle with cancer.
Scott was a valued and esteemed professor at the collegiate level for multiple schools,
enriching and educating people on the wonders and possibilities of photography. Running his
own photography business he always showed his dedication and loyalty to his clients.
Scott’s life was full of adventure, positivity, and creativity. His sense of humor and sarcasm was
iconic, being never without a witty comeback or jovial quip. He enjoyed movies and music
such as The Shawshank Redemption and The Beatles.
Scott marched in the Santa Clara Vanguard from 1982 to 1985 and marching again with the
alumni corps in 2017, keeping his love of music alive; and inspiring new generations to keep
theirs as well.
He was also was very active in the Boy Scouts of America program. His two sons both
achieved the rank of Eagle Scout with shining distinction, all credited to his guidance and
support.
He had a passion for outdoor camping in both tents and trailers, basking in both beachside
sunsets in Santa Barbara and forest hideaways in Yosemite.
Despite an arduous, testing life full of complications and changes; Scott never wavered or
worried. His infamous “killed can’t, and whooped couldn’t til he could” attitude proved valorous
to the end; defying the odds and showing the world he wouldn’t go without a fight.
Scott’s eternal legacy is carried on by his two sons, Scott Jr. and Thomas.
