Sherald Ann Bolar-Nord, daughter of the late L. King and Gladys Bolar, was born on November 6, 1944 in Mobile, Alabama. She was the second of ten children born to this union. She was cherished by all.
After leaving Alabama, Sherald moved to New York to begin her life under the guidance of her older siblings. She prided herself on listening to all the advice being given and matured through many career fields and business ventures to include: The United States Postal Service, Chase Manhattan Bank, Eppies, Boutique La Condesa, Books in Color (which she started in the closet of her home in Chico, CA). Sherald was a hard worker and dedicated business owner who defied all odds.
One very special job that she often laughed about were her unpaid taxi days. Driving her parents and siblings to work, to appointments, the store, going to work herself and taking others wherever else they needed to go. The ultimate example of how to get the job done and NEVER complaining about it.
During her journey, in May 1972, she met the love of her life, Torben Nord. Three years later, on June 5, 1975, they were married on the Rock of Gibraltar. Torben and Sherald shared a love like no other. It was beautiful, gentle and kind.
Sherald was a BOSS, in every sense of the word. The backbone of her family and a staple in her community. She was a wealth of knowledge which she shared with everyone whom she encountered. Educating those she loved with her experiences and in her own gentle way. Sherald was equally invested into giving back, not only to family and friends, but even to those she’d never met. She often quoted the following: "Nothing is worth having, unless you have someone you love to share it with."
Sherri departed this life, at home, surrounded by a lot of love and family. She was preceded in death by three brothers: Harvey, Lawrence, and Terry Bolar, and four sisters: Gwen, Medeva, and Maryln Bolar and Doris Bolar Williams.
To cherish her memory, Sherald leaves behind her devoted honey, Torben Nord; her daughter, Gwendolyn Love; step-daughter, Tove Nord (Carlo Borea); son, Darrell Bolar; grandsons, Harvey Bolar Nord, David Rossi, Beck Fortier, and Kaj Fortier; great granddaughter Spring Rose; and twin brothers,Tony and Wendell Bolar. Sherald will be missed dearly by her nieces and nephews, great nieces, great nephews, a host of extended family members, and dear friends.
