

Steven Gary Spackman was born November 14, 1960 in Sacramento, CA. He was raised in Sacramento and graduated Luther Burbank High School in 1978. Steve was out going throughout his childhood and through his teen years, and made many friends in the neighborhood he grew up in. Many of these friendships he has maintained through his adult life.
Steve continued to live in Sacramento until he was hired by the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department in 1983. He was a member of the Sheriff’s Academy Class 215. Once completing the Academy he was assigned to Custody at Wayside Jail for two years. He was then transferred to Patrol at the infamous Firestone Station from 1985-1990. In 1991 he joined the Special Investigations Unit at Major Crimes Bureau, eventually serving as Team Leader assisting in multiple high-profile cases and earning the nickname “Attila.” His hard work and reputation earned him a promotion to the rank of Sergeant in 2000.
Steve returned to patrol in his hometown of Santa Clarita, CA for two years before being assigned back to Major Crimes Bureau. He led the Prison Gang Unit, earning them multiple awards and high recognition for his team and their achievements. During his years of service Steve built many friendships with teammates and coworkers. He was deeply respected and loved by his family, friends, the community, and fellow peers.
