Our heartfelt condolences from our family to yours. Wayne and Anabelle were good friends to our parents and wonderful neighbors to us all. Wayne's kindness to myself, my brothers and my sisters has been a lifelong fond memory. This sounds understated in it's simplicity but says it all... "He was a good man."

Sorry to hear of his passing, they were our neighbors when we lived in Rancho Cordova.  Ann and Wayne were good friends and will always be remembered!!

Our deepest sympathy to you all.  I have the best memories of you all traveling to Colorado to Grandma Nell's house and playing football or baseball.  Thank you for always opening your homes to us especially your Dad and Mom when Gary was in an accident in CA.  I will miss Wayne's smile and I can still hear his great laugh.Great memories, which I know he has given you many of.

My family also grew up with the Thornton's and have many happy memories. Although Ann and Wayne will be missed and always loved, they are together watching over their lovely children. This isn't "good-by", but it is "we'll see you later."

I spent most of my childhood with Ann and Wayne. There daughter Sara and me were good friends and  I was either at their house or Sara was at my house. I spent all my summers with them at Folsom Lake camping and water skiing and then they started to go to Lake Wildwood, I learned how to ski with them and have so many wonderful childhood memories, You could always talk to them about anything and they would not judge you. Thank you for all my childhood memories that I would cherish forever. You are with your beloved Ann now and I know we will all be together again someday. Rest in Peace and God Bless you.

I grew up across the street from Wayne and Ann, Sara and me were best friends all through school. All my summers were spent with the whole family we were either camping and water skiing at first was Folsom Lake and then we started going to Lake Wild Wood, I pretty much lived at their house or Sara was at my house. I learned how to Ski with them and I could always growing up talk to them about anything and they would listen and not judge you. You are with  your beloved Ann now and we will see you again one day. You will be truly missed. Thank you for giving me a childhood I will never forget and memories I will cherish forever.

During one of my folks visits to Colorado, I stayed with Wayne and his folks home at the womans prison, where Jim and Ethel worked. I can remember Ethel becoming really worried about Wayne because he was out crusing in his hot car.  The next day Wayne took Jr. McChesney and I out into the prison in the back of a pickup,  the girls were giving us catcalls, I don't remember if we were happy or scared. (I'm sure Wayne did it on purpose).
Thanks Wayne and Ann for always being there for my folks, whether at a family picnic or funeral.  I have a picture of  Wayne consoling my Dad when my Mom died.
We have loved our times with you and we miss you.  Thanks for sharing you great kids with us.

So sorry to hear about your dad. We will miss his phone calls checking up on Dave ,he told me so many stories about Dave as a child last Oct when Dave was in the hospital he had me in stitches laughing .He always thought about others even tho he wasn't feeling well himself . Wayne was just a teenager when his folks would come to Fort Collins, he loved to come Walt & Dorothy's home in Fort Collins, because the folks would have hamburg's because he never got hamburg at home. he would eat so many I thought he would make himself sick eating  to many hamburgs with the works on them.  He loved to come up with his folks to Fort Collins and my dad would take the men folks fishing, something Wayne liked very much. They would all chat and joke around, they were always laughing.

Wayne was 6 years older than me.

Where to begin?  How about with "Pullum Drive IN" on Hampden Blvd in Englewood - owned and operated by Wayne's Uncle & Aunt and a hang out for a lot of his cousins and friends.  One night he and a friend had a bet going on, who could eat the most banana splits.  Wayne won with downing 6 or 8.   I don't remember which, but they were huge!   Another time, Quentin & I met him there and he needed to borrow some money for speeding tickets. He had 3 of them in his pocket.  At that time, he was driving a black 1936 Ford Coupe and if you were following, it was almost impossible to keep up with him  That speed was put to good use after our wedding reception at his parents home.  A couple of Lucille's ex-boyfriends were waiting in their cars to separate Lucille from Quentin.  Wayne was waiting behind the house and the orchard area  when we crawled out the back bedroom window to make our get-a-way.  We have so many fond memories of fun times with he, Ann and their three devoted children.  Our love goes out to each one of them.
