

A life beautifully lived deserves to be beautifully remembered. The family of Abelino Sauceda Jr. sadly announces his passing on May 27, 2026, at a hospital in Corpus Christi, Texas, at the age of 85. He was born on September 5, 1940, in Benavides, Texas to Avelino Sauceda and Ygnacia Vera Sauceda.
Abelino honorably served his country in the United States Air Force from 1962-1984 where he was part of the 463D Tactical Airlift Wing, Military Airlift Command, and Combat Crew Squadrons. After retiring from the Air Force, he served as a Postal Clerk for the Colorado City, Texas Post Office until his retirement in 2002. Following his retirement, he moved from Abilene, Texas to Corpus Christi to live closer to his family.
Abelino enjoyed spending time with his family and never missed a family function or event. He had an outstanding humor and always did things “his way”. He also loved sports, especially basketball and was an avid Dallas Cowboys fan.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Avelino and Ygnacia Sauceda; brothers, Concepcion (Agapita) Sauceda, Raul (Emilia) Sauceda, and Francisco Sauceda; sister, Eva S. (David) Lopez; brothers-in-law, Fidel Perez, Juan Antonio Ruiz, and Matias Alejo Navarro Jr.; and sister-in-law, Josie Sauceda.
He is survived by his sisters, Agapita Perez of McAllen, Texas, Aurora Ruiz of Rios, Texas, and Maria Navarro of Falfurrias; brother, Gilberto Sauceda of Corpus Christi; and many nephews, nieces, cousins and extended family members.
Pallbearers will be Victor Sauceda, Homer Navarro, Ricardo Lopez, Johnny Sauceda, Gilbert Sauceda Jr., and Danny Perez. Honorary Pallbearers are Marcos Trevino, Juan Noel Ruiz, Erik James Galvan, Frank Ybarra, Carlos Sauceda, Esiquio Agapito Sauceda, Autumn Anderson, and Bailey Anderson.
Special appreciation is expressed to Gilberto Sauceda, Maria Teresa Trevino, Ricardo Lopez, Marivel Moya, Myra Alejandra Navarro, Orlando Navarro, Humberto Navarro, Ygnacia Isabela Sauceda, Ruth Anderson, Nancy Benavides, Dr. Frank Martinez and Staff and Melissa Tovar, P.A.
Visitation will begin at 5:30 p.m. on Friday, June 5, 2026, at the Funeraria Del Angel Howard Williams in Falfurrias with a Rosary to be prayed at 7:00 p.m. Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 6, 2026, at Saint Theresa Catholic Church in Premont with Visitation beginning at 9:00 a.m. Burial will follow at the Sauceda Family Cemetery, 474 County Road 223, Concepcion, TX 78349.
