Alicia Nava Huerta entered into the eternal rest on Monday, January 31, 2022, at her daughter’s residence in Corpus Christi, Texas at the blessed age of 101. She was born on April 17, 1920, to Juan Nava and Juanita Longoria Nava in Falfurrias, Texas. Before her retirement, Alicia dedicated over 20 years working as a teacher’s aide for Brooks County ISD.
Alicia was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was strong in faith and a loyal member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Falfurrias. She was also a member of the Sacred Heart Church Spanish Choir for more than 20 years and served as the treasurer and president during her membership with the Sacred Heart Club of Falfurrias. Alicia was also a proud member of the Schoenstatt Mothers Organization.
She was reunited in Heaven with her parents; husband, Frank G. Huerta, Sr.; daughter, Rosario H. Davis; son, Frank G. Huerta, Jr., great-granddaughter, Kayla Danyelle Cabrera; four brothers and five sisters.
She is survived by her four daughters, Dolores Huerta and Teresita (John) Genesee, both of Corpus Christi, Leticia (Travis) Gilbert of Baytown, Texas and Sylvia H. Mathis of Grand Prairie, Texas; sister, Maria Socorro Vellios of San Antonio, Texas; five grandsons, Christopher, Quincy, Michael, Josh Jose and Jonathan; five granddaughters, Jasmin, Angela, Norma Alicia, Marie and Vernell; 16 great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, and extended family members and friends.
Rosary will be recited at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday, February 5, 2022, at the Funeraria Del Angel Howard Williams in Falfurrias with the visitation beginning at 9:00 a.m. Funeral Mass will follow at 11:00 a.m. at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Falfurrias with services to conclude with the burial at the Sacred Heart Cemetery in Falfurrias.
