Benito “Jay” Gutierrez, Jr. entered into eternal rest on Thursday, October 17, 2019 at a hospital in San Antonio, Texas with his loving mother, family and friends by his side. Jay was born on August 28, 1974 to Benito Gutierrez, Sr. and Soila Saenz Nethery in Falfurrias, Texas and was blessed with 45 years of an angel’s life. Jay was a blessing to his family and will be missed dearly.
As the Lord welcomed him into the gates of Heaven, he was reunited with his father, Benito Gutierrez, Sr. and his sister, Irma Linda Gutierrez.
He is survived by his mother, Soila A. Nethery of San Antonio; maternal grandparents, Gilberto and Aminta Saenz of Falfurrias, Texas; aunts, Edna (Bill) Spurgeon of Odem, Texas, Elsa (Emede) Canales of Corpus Christi, Texas, Mary (Florentino) Zamora of Falfurrias and Anita (Damien) Carvalho of Corpus Christi and numerous cousins.
Pallbearers will be David Duarte, Sr., David Duarte, Jr., Tommy Duarte, Cosme Garza, Jr., Emede Canales, III and Bill Spurgeon. Honorary Pallbearer will be Damien Carvalho.
Rosary will be recited at 5:00 p.m. on Sunday, October 20, 2019 at the Funeraria Del Angel Howard Williams in Falfurrias with Visitation beginning at 4:00 p.m. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, October 21, 2019 at the Sacred Heart Church in Falfurrias with Burial to follow at the Garza Zamora Cemetery in Falfurrias.
