Emma G. Maldonado was called by the Lord on Sunday, December 6, 2015. She graced us with her presence on this earth for 88 short years, and is preceded in death by her parents Don Pedro R. Garcia and Belia Chapa Garcia, her husband Jose Homero Maldonado, and her sister Elda G. Guerra of San Antonio. She was a loving and devoted mother of six children, Mary (Dana) Henry of Hebbronville, Irasema (Ruben) Hernandez of McAllen, Jose Lauro (Alma) Maldonado of Hebbronville, Jose Luis Maldonado of Hebbronville, Homero (Sandy) Maldonado of Bruni, and Rolando Maldonado of Austin. Emma was also Blessed with Twelve grandchildren and Fifteen Great-Grandchildren. She is also survived by her sisters, Edelicia (Bill+) Thompson of Bastrop, Enedelia (Ramiro) Salinas of Oilton, Ercilia (Lauro+) Mendoza of Grapevine, and Elvia (Armando) of Spicewood, TX. Emma was not only a faithful wife, nurturing mother, and caring sister and aunt, but also a devoted employee for 45 years with the Jim Hogg ISD. There she was Head of the Bookeeping department for school district and developed a great kinship with all of her co-workers, teachers, and administrators. After retiring, she dedicated her time to her family and Our Lady of Guadalupe Church where she volunteered in the parish office and was an active member and officer of the Franciscana Order, and a regular liturgy lector during masses. Emma was the Matriarch of her family and the source of inspiration and guidance for all of her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She was a great and loyal friend to many and enjoyed life to the fullest whether by watching her Tele-Novelas or football or by hopping on a Tour Bus to go play the slot machines at some Casino. Emma was mainly a quiet person but spoke volumes with her actions and spirituality, and never denied any one who asked a helping hand. She will be greatly missed, but now everyone who knows her has someone watching over them from the Heaven above.
