Jose Jesus “Chuy” Ruiz, passed away on Tuesday, July 7, 2020 at his residence in Hebbronville, Texas at the age of 93. He was born March 5, 1927 to Hilario Ruiz and Viviana Garza Ruiz in Jim Hogg County.
He was a life long mechanic, owned his wrecker service and worked with the ambulance service. Chuy was also a WWII veteran, active member with the American Legion and was the oldest veteran in Hebbronville. He was a devoted Catholic who never faltered from his faith and was always wiling to help anyone in need.
Chuy is preceded in death by his parents; siblings, Salvador, Julian, Esperanza Avalos, Hilario, Gregorio, Guadalupe, Juan, Viviana Villarreal and Refugia Perez and grandson, Rodemiro Ruiz.
He is survived by his wife, Odilia P. Ruiz of Hebbronville; children, Rodemiro (Gracia) Ruiz of Kingsville, Texas, Hilda (Bobby) Garza of Hebbronville, Rene (Rosalie) Ruiz of Hebbronville; Roel (Velma) Ruiz of Corpus Christi, Texas, Ernesto (Irene) Ruiz of Hebbronville and Ricardo (Norma) Ruiz of Laredo, Texas; 22 grandchildren; numerous great and great-great-grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and extended family members and friends.
Pallbearers will be Poncho Perez, Roel Javier Ruiz, Steve Ruiz, Leonel Omar Gonzalez, Ricky Ruiz, Jr. and Aaron Salazar.
Holy Rosary will be recited at 9:30 a.m. on Tuesday, July 21, 2020 at Funeraria Del Angel Howard-Williams in Hebbronville. Funeral Mass will follow at 11:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church with services concluding at the Greenhill Cemetery in Jim Hogg County.
