Maria Minerva "Minnie" Garcia, of Alamo, Texas, entered into eternal rest on Saturday, May 17, 2014, at a hospital in McAllen, Texas at the age of 78. Minnie was born on April 20, 1936 to Abel M. Garcia and Eloisa Pena Garcia in Falfurrias, Texas. Minnie was a teacher for 44 years until her retirement. Throughout her career, she taught for La Joya and the McAllen Independent School Districts. As Minnie entered into the gates of Heaven, she was reunited with her parents. She leaves behind to cherish her memories her two sons, Martin (Rosalinda) Perez of McAllen, and Jorge (Christina) Perez of Alamo, Texas; three brothers, Arnoldo (Irma) Garcia of Premont, Texas, Lorenzo (Carmen) Garcia of Baytown, Texas and Enrique Garza of Dallas, Texas; two sisters, Imelda (Arturo) Hernandez of Falfurrias, Texas and Viola (Robert) McIntyre of Dallas; four grandchildren, Andrea A. Perez, Meagan A. Perez, Christopher D. Perez and Allison E. Perez and numerous nieces and nephews who will all miss her deeply.
