Mateo Longoria, III entered into eternal rest on Sunday, October 8, 2023 at a hospital in Edinburg, Texas at the age of 66. He was born December 10, 1956 to Mateo Longoria, Jr. and Sylvia Rodriguez Longoria in Falfurrias, Texas. Mateo worked as a rancher and enjoyed working cattle as well as hunting and farming. He had an outgoing personality and liked having conversations with people. Everyone always knew when he was in the room. Recently, he was elected as a board member of the Farm Service Agency.
Mateo is preceded in death by his parents and brother, Richard Longoria.
Left behind to reminisce on the many memories are his two children, Kimberly Ann Longoria of Laredo, Texas and Mateo (Mercy) Longoria, IV of Falfurrias; brother, Abel Longoria of Encino; sister, Susana Longoria (Humberto) Navarro of Falfurrias; granddaughter, Madelynn Lynelle Longoria; nephews, Abel Longoria Jr., Adam Noel Longoria and Martin Navarro; nieces, Lydia Navarro, Ruth Anderson and Ashley Nicole Longoria; mother of his children, Janie R. Longoria of Falfurrias and many extended family members.
Pallbearers will be Fidencio Perez, Jr., Jose “JB” Perez, Jose Gutierrez, Martin Navarro, Noe Martinez and Hermilo Villarreal. Honorary Pallbearers are Romeo Chavana, Matilde Martinez, Fidel Cantu, Jr. and Abel Longoria, Jr.
Rosary will be held at 9:00 a.m. on Friday, October 13, 2023 at the St. Ann’s Catholic Church in Encino with Visitation beginning at 8:00 a.m. Funeral Mass will follow at 10:00 a.m. and services will conclude with Burial at San Mateo Cemetery on FM 755.
