Melba Flora Soliz, 82, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family on Friday, December 24, 2021 at her residence in Falfurrias, Texas. She was born November 24, 1939 to Hilario Garza, Sr. and Petra Palacios Garza in La Copita, Texas. She worked for many years as a housekeeper and caretaker. She was a strong believer in Jesus and very family oriented. She loved hosting gatherings where she would be surrounded by family and friends. Dancing to Spanish music, caring for her plants and flowers, and cooking were things she enjoyed.
She is preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Sandra Maldonado; brothers, Abel Garza, Hilario Garza, Jr., Rodolfo Garza and Audelio Tijerina and sisters, Maria Benavides, Emma Moreno, Graciela Klingler, Dora Salinas, Celia Garcia, Olivia Garcia, Beatrice Ramirez and Ofelia Benavides.
She is survived by her son and his wife, Johnny and Lisa Soliz of Weatherford, Texas; daughter and her husband, Cynthia “Cindy” and Jose Ortiz of Falfurrias; brother, Ramon P. Garza of Falfurrias; sisters, Margarita Longoria of San Antonio, Texas and Edna Ruiz of Sugarland, Texas; 10 grandchildren, Brandi Cantu, Janelle (Ben Mata) Ortiz, Tracy (Norberto Buenrostro), Liza (Beau) Harris, Misty (Javier) Aleman, Kathy Ortiz, Gabriel Dante Ortiz, Trevor (Lyndsey) Soliz, Natasha (Michael) Oliver and Kristy (Chase) Sullivan; 24 great-grandchildren; two great-great-granddaughters and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family members and friends.
A Funeral Service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday, December 29, 2021 at the Funeraria Del Angel Howard Williams in Falfurrias, Texas with Visitation beginning at 1:30 p.m. Burial will follow at the Falfurrias Burial Park.
