San Juanita “Janie” Martinez Sanchez entered into eternal rest on Wednesday, May 23, 2018 at a hospital in Corpus Christi, Texas at the age of 67. She was born on March 12, 1951 to Ramon O. Martinez, Sr. and Margarita Hernandez Martinez in Premont, Texas. Janie worked for many years as a caregiver.
She believed in living each day to the fullest and had an adventurous, colorful and lively personality. She learned to surf and ride a motorcycle. Janie was a loving person who was in return loved by many. She had a passion for cooking for her loved ones, a trait which she passed on to her daughter, Linda. She devoted her life to being the best mother she could be to her. Janie loved music and gardening was a pastime she was very fond of.
As Janie entered into the gates of Heaven she was welcomed by her parents; her dearly missed husband, Joe R. Lopez; her grandmother, Josefina Barrientez; sister, Dubelsa Garcia and her three brothers, Elias H. Martinez, Ramon H. Martinez, Jr. and Juan H. Martinez.
She is survived by her loving daughter, Linda Margarita Sanchez of Premont; step-son, Alberto Sanchez of Premont; her niece, Rosario Gonzalez, whom she loved and treated like a daughter; brother, Rosendo H. (Juanita) Martinez of California; sisters, Lucy M. Ortiz and Gloria Rodriguez both of Premont and numerous beloved nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Rick Ortiz, Jr., Baldemar Villarreal, Sr., Bernard Erevia, Samuel Vargas, Jr., Ricardo Jose Ortiz, Mario A. Quintanilla, Raul Carrisalez and Jessie Ybarra. Honorary Pallbearers will be Gabriel Ortiz and Baldemar Villarreal, Jr.
Rosary will be prayed at 7:00 p.m. on Monday, May 28, 2018 at the Funeraria Del Angel Howard Williams in Falfurrias with visitation beginning at 5:00 p.m. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, May 29, 2018 at the St. Theresa’s Catholic Church in Premont with visitation beginning at the church at 9:00 a.m. Burial will follow at the Premont Cemetery.
