Ben was an Eagle Scout, once walking from Springfield to Chicago. He served proudly served in the United States Navy during WWII on the aircraft carrier USS Enterprise before transfer to the USS San Marcos as one of the inagural crewmembers. He enjoyed bowling, won many awards and was President of both the Chicago and State of Illinois Bowling Associations, traveling extensively in these roles. He was a Booster for the Kansas City Royals for 14 years. He retired from the Electro Motive Division of General Motors after thirty years.
Ben is survived by his wife Jane Zulfer (nee Moore); Five children, Deb (Jim) Chevas, Donna (Jim) Plonczynski, Ben Zulfer, Rich (Robin) Zulfer, Larry
(Tracy) Zulfer; Eight grandchildren: Paul, Patrick, Kelly, Katrina, Nick, Benjamin, Kyle, Rhiann, and one great grandson Dylan.
