Bernice Catherine Schawel

Bernice Catherine (Grabow) Schawel, age 96, lifelong Forest Park, IL resident, passed away August 24, 2020 at Plymouth Place Senior Living. Bernice was born on March 11, 1924 to Ralph I. and Mary A. Grabow. She graduated from St. Bernadine’s grammar school in Forest Park, and Proviso East High School in Maywood, IL. Bernice was a longtime employee of Western Electric. She was an avid skier, golfer and horseback rider. Bernice was a faithful servant of St. Bernardine Catholic Church. Beloved wife of the late Roland V. Schawel; devoted sister of the late Anna Mae Grabow and the late Ralph P. Grabow; fond aunt of Paula (Lee) Schoenbrod, the late Patricia Bates, and Sherry (Mark) Hill; great-nieces Deborah Lee, Kelly Allers Kuehn, Christie Hickman and Brenna Hill, great-grand nephews Dillon Lee and Griffin Hickman and great-grand nieces Madeline and Hanna Kuehn, Gillian Allers and Margaux Hickman.Funeral Visitation is scheduled for Sunday, August 30, 3 to 8 PM, at Woodlawn Funeral Home 7750 W.
