Gregory B. Morman passed away on February 4, 2023, at the age of 83. Greg graduated from Loyola University after serving in the United States Navy, then worked for the Electro-Motive Division of General Motors in La Grange, Illinois and spent more than 20 years of his career traveling the world selling
locomotives for EMD.
He will be lovingly remembered by daughters Tracy (Mark) Wilks, Tricia (Cory) Holgren, & Leigh Morman. Grandsons Brian & Logan Holgren & Easton Wilks. Sisters Mary Ann (PJ) O’Connor, Nancy Morman (Dan McNeil), & Dawn (Manuel) Capistran, along with 18 beloved nieces and nephews, a multitude of great-nieces and great-nephews; And his loving second family: Debe (Randy) Jenkins, Sherri (Kevin) Daly, Vicki Hollenshead, Marci Hollenshead; 9 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.
Greg retired to Florida where he and his beloved wife, Linda, spent their time rehabbing homes, fishing (aka “boating” if the fish weren’t biting) and kayaking. He was known for playing tiddlywinks with manhole covers, always having some sort of project to work on, his incredible grilling skills, and his razor-sharp sarcasm. He loved teaching the uninitiated how to make the perfect martini, giving people grief while making them laugh, and singing along with the likes of Frank Sinatra and Tony Bennett (whether anyone asked him to or not, and often inserting his own questionable lyrics); and his joyous, loving devotion to his Linda Lee.
Memorial services in the Chicago area and in Crystal River, Florida will be announced at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to: Friends of the Crystal River National Wildlife Refuge Complex, Inc., for the protection of the threatened Florida manatee in Three Sisters Spring and Kings Bay (friendsofthecrystalriver.org) OR
The Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation (pulmonaryfibrosis.org).
Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.woodlawnchicago.com for the Morman family.
