Helen M. Damergis

Born on May 6, 1944, Helen was a kind-hearted, beloved, and hard-working individual who touched the lives of many. She was a graduate of Riverside Brookfield High School in 1962 and the Grant School of Nursing in 1965.

Helen dedicated her career to nursing, working at the Coronary Unit at Hines, VA, and MacNeal Hospital. Her career also took her to Wayne Hospital in Goldsboro, NC, Washington Hospital Center in Washington DC, and Holy Cross Hospital in Silver Spring, MD.

She was the beloved wife of John A. Damergis, Sr., MD, and a loving mother to John A. Damergis, Jr., MD, Jennifer Rice, MD, and Michael C. Damergis, CPA/JD. Helen was a cherished grandmother to Alexa, Eva, Oliver, Gianni, Dylan, Eliana, and Matteo. She was the treasured daughter of the late Frank J. Blada, Sr. and the late Mary née Kunak.

Visitation will be held at Woodlawn Funeral Home, 7750 West Cermak Road, Forest Park, IL, on December 16, 2025, from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm. The funeral service will take place at Holy Apostles Greek Orthodox Church, 2501 S Wolf Rd, Westchester, IL, on December 17, 2025, at 11:00 am, followed by interment at Woodlawn Memorial Park, 7750 W Cermak Road, Forest Park, IL.
