

He attended Douglass High School in Huntington, WV where he made life long friends reuniting with them regularly at Douglass Class of 1955 reunions in different cities across the United States. After graduating from Douglass, Henry joined the United States Air Force serving 5 years where he specialized in jet engine repairs.
After the Air Force, Henry attended Marshall University, once again making lifelong friends. While at Marshall, Henry ran track and was one of the founders and first president of the Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc chapter at Marshall.
Henry loved running, and in later life, walking. He also loved music and sports, especially football. He was a big fan of the Marshall University Thundering Herd.
To his union with Kathryn Parrish were born two children, Troy and Tara. In 1988, Henry and Sheila were married and just recently celebrated their 35th anniversary.
Henry was preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Alice and his dear, much loved grandparents and guardians, Keever and Nannie.
He leaves to cherish his memory his beloved wife Sheila, his son Troy (Kimberly), his daughter Tara, his granddaughter Makeda and his brother Walter II. He also leaves behind a host of nieces and nephews, extended family and lifelong friends that loved him and will miss him dearly.
“In lieu of flowers, a donation to the Black Alumni Association at Marshall University can be made in Henry’s honor”.
Friends and family will gather for a visitation for Henry that will be held Tuesday, September 19th, 2023 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Woodlawn Funeral Home, 7750 West Cermak Road, Forest Park, Illinois 60130. A prayer service will follow from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM. With the completion of the interment from 1:30 PM to 2:00 PM at Concordia Cemetery, 7900 Madison Street, Forest Park, Illinois 60130.
