

Albert Cambray McClure was born January 16, 1934, in Fort Wayne, Indiana, to the late Joseph and Harriet (Cambray) McClure. He passed away at Parkview Regional Medical Center on December 2, 2022, at the age of 88.
Al was a life-long learner who enjoyed talking with people, both friends and strangers. He held a bachelor’s degree from Butler University, where he played basketball for Tony Hinkle, and a master’s degree from Indiana University. He was also a life-long teacher with two years of teaching in Florida, one year in Ohio, and the rest of his teaching career in and around Fort Wayne. Al loved his students, and his students loved him. After retiring from teaching elementary school students, Al continued to teach those around him about four of his favorite activities: golfing, sailing, racquetball, and pool.
Surviving are his loving wife, Sue McClure of Fort Wayne; daughter Mamie Wood of Phoenix; daughter and son-in-law Amy and Dave Blumenherst of Scottdale; son and daughter-in-law Brad and Heidi Boyer of Fishers; daughter Amy Boyer of Cincinnati; eight grandchildren, Amanda (Blumenherst) Freiman, Andrew Blumenherst, Erica (Blumenherst) Joffe, Maggie (Wood) Reddington, Griffin Wood, Rachel Boyer, Mackenzie Boyer, and Caleb Boyer; seven great-grandchildren (soon to be nine); and by many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.
In addition to his parents, Al was preceded in death by his sister, Harriet Facks, and his seven brothers, Joe, Bob, Dick, Bill, Jim, JT (John Thomas), and Phil McClure.
The family is hosting a Celebration of Life Open House at Pathway Community Church, 1010 Carroll Road, Fort Wayne on August 13 from 3:00 pm until 5:00 pm. All friends and family members are invited. Memorials may be directed to the American Heart Association or to Pathway Community Church.
