Alvin Prater

Alvin Prater, 62, of Silver Lake, Ind., passed away on Tuesday, December 4, 2018 at his home. Born November 23, 1956 in Whitley County, Ind., he was a son of the late Burl and Martha (Hall) Prater. Alvin was a handyman who enjoyed helping others. He loved fishing and tending to his dog, Tater. Mostly, however, he treasured time spent with his family and grandchildren. He is survived by his children, Leslie and Adam Prater; grandchildren, Ava, Ariana, Karder, Laila, DeLaney, and Penelope; sisters, Ruby (Junior) Crace, Edith (Harry) Crace, Pearlie (Lloyd) Whitaker, and Irene Risner; brother, Jay "Bunkey" Ancil; partner of 14 years, Rose Howell; and beloved dog, Tater. He was also preceded in death by his brother, Burly Prater; and brother-in-law, Paul Risner.
