Arthur lived a life marked by resilience, faith, and compassion for others. Earlier in life he worked in construction, pouring concrete and building with his hands until a tragic accident changed the course of his life. When a crane collapsed and severely injured him, doctors told him he was fortunate to have survived. The long road to recovery required months of rehabilitation and immense determination, but Arthur faced those challenges with strength and perseverance.
After his recovery, Arthur continued to pursue meaningful work and service. He opened Noah’s Closet, a children’s clothing consignment store, which he proudly owned and operated for ten years. When the economic downturn forced him to close the business, Arthur once again demonstrated his determination to move forward. After sending out countless résumés and facing the challenges that often accompany life in a wheelchair, he found new opportunity through Goodwill Industries of Northeast Indiana.
Arthur enrolled in Goodwill’s retail training program and soon after was hired to work with shopgoodwill.com, the organization’s online auction site. Over the years, Arthur became a familiar and welcoming presence, often described as “the face of Goodwill.” Through his work there for more than a decade, he inspired many with his positive spirit, dedication, and willingness to help others. Arthur often said that working at Goodwill restored his sense of dignity and purpose, something he carried with deep gratitude.
Arthur loved God and his church and was always eager to lend a helping hand to those in need. He cherished time with his family, especially his many nieces and nephews, and was known as a loyal friend to many. In his free time, he enjoyed gardening and landscaping, taking pride in growing the foods he loved, as well as cooking and baking for others.
Arthur is survived by his sisters, Patricia Stonestreet and MeLisa (Dan) Brott; nieces and nephews, Angela (Ron) Frey, Danny (Karissa) Stonestreet, Rachelle (Brock) Hanisch, Makayla (Patrick) Overmire, Taylor (Erica) Brott, Ethan Brott, Caleb Stonestreet, Christopher Hayden, KatyGrace Hayden, Makayla Stonestreet, Jaidyn Stonestreet, Danny Jr. Stonestreet, Xavier Stonestreet, Weston Stonestreet, Taylor Stonestreet, Tyler Stonestreet, Piper Hanisch, Henry Hanisch, Mia Hanisch, Elaina Overmire, Freeman Overmire, Violet Overmire, and Millie Overmire.
