

BRIAN L. CRAVENS, 48, of Fort Wayne, died on Tuesday, May 29, 2012, 10:44 p.m., at IU Medical Center, Indianapolis, after a valiant battle with Leukemia. He was a Senior Sales Engineer at Sweetwater Sound here in Fort Wayne. He started Stage Left Music, in Kendallville which later moved to Fort Wayne. He loved playing the guitar and being the lead singer in various bands in the Fort Wayne area. He also loved golfing, deer hunting, and photography. He had written articles for various magazines. During his youth, he loved to work with his grandpa Heidel and uncle David Heidel on the farm, and driving the John Deere tractor at Random Lake, Wis. He continued that love through his adulthood at the Craven's farm near Corunna. "He was a devoted husband, father, son, brother, uncle, and friend who enjoyed sharing his Christian faith." He attended Brookside Church where he played with the praise and worship group. In 1982, he graduated from Northrop High School. Surviving are his wife, Jennifer M.; daughters, April Anne Cravens and Abigail Mae Cravens, both at home; stepson, Alexander C. Richards of Fort Wayne; step-granddaughter, Katherine Richards; parents, H. Leroy and Karen A. Cravens of Corunna, Ind.; sisters, Suzanne (Rex) Winebrenner and Denise Cravens, both of Fort Wayne; nephews, Cameron, Devin and Christian McCalla; and father-in-law and mother-in-law, John and Judith Stevens of Indianapolis. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Henry and Pearl Cravens and Arthur and Jeanette Heidel. Service is 10:30 a.m. Monday, June 4, 2012, at Brookside Church, 6102 Evard Road, with calling one hour prior. Pastor Nick Hudson officiating. Calling also from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday, June 3, 2012, at Hockemeyer & Miller Funeral Home, 6131 St. Joe Road. Burial in Corunna Cemetery, Corunna, Ind. Preferred memorials to April and Abigail's Educational Fund.
