

Carol A. Achleman, 80, passed away on Wednesday, August 6, 2014, at Lutheran Life Villages, Pine Valley. Born on July 30, 1934 in Gary, Ind., she was a daughter of the late Lawrence and Edith (Dunning) Hurter. She lived most of her life in Fort Wayne, graduating from South Side High School and attending Indiana University regional campus. She was a member of Grace Presbyterian Church, volunteering in many areas of service within the church to include Sarah Circle. During her years of employment, she enjoyed various positions: L.S.Ayres-training and personnel director in the 70’s, public relations in the Mayor’s office and treasury administrative secretary at Rea Magnet Wire for 18 years. She enjoyed gardening, reading, traveling, and antiques (especially dishes). She is survived by her loving husband of 60 years, Max of Fort Wayne; daughters, Margaret Fish of Fort Wayne, Anne Achleman of Indianapolis, Ind., Ellen (Patrick) Felts of Austin, TX., and Nancy (Ron) Leef of Fort Wayne; seven grandchildren, Ross (Megan) Giuffre, Colin Stark, Max (Darla) Felts, Emily (Eric) Felts Reynolds, Kristen (Nick) Minnich, Alyssa Leef, and Jackson Leef; one great-granddaughter, Mara Giuffre; sisters, Phila (Larry) Acuff of Fullerton, CA and Sally (Mick) Fee of Novi, MI. Funeral Service is 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, August 12, 2014, at Grace Presbyterian Church, 1811 Fairhill Drive, Fort Wayne. Calling will be from 2 to 5 and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, August 11, 2014, at Hockemeyer & Miller Funeral Home, 6131 St. Joe Road, Fort Wayne. Burial at Greenlawn Memorial Park, Fort Wayne.
