Donald Edgar Kramer of Fort Wayne, IN, was called home to be with his Savior, Jesus Christ, on Thursday, February 22, 2018, at the age of 85. He is now enjoying the glorious family reunion forever in heaven with his parents, the Rev. Dr. Fred and Alivine (Kohlmeier) Kramer, brothers Elfred Kramer and Norman Kramer, and his sister Lois (Kramer) Kusik, while his brother, the Rev. Dr. Loren Kramer, and Loren’s wife Arlene of Dana Point, CA, as well as six nieces and nephews, look forward to seeing Don again and joining in that blessed reunion in God’s perfect time.
Mr. Kramer was born on April 30, 1932, in Clay Center, KS, and became God’s child by infant baptism. He studied at St. John’s College in Winfield, KS, and served in the United States Navy during the Korean Conflict. After his honorable discharge, he completed his education at Western Illinois University and taught junior high school for several years before in 1968 beginning a long career on the library staff of Concordia Theological Seminary, at that time in Springfield, IL, where his father was a professor. When the seminary moved from Springfield to Fort Wayne in 1976, he moved with the institution, continuing full-time until 1997 and then in part-time capacities until 2012.
Donald was deeply appreciated by his dear friends at the seminary. He was always active in church life, attending Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Fort Wayne. The eternal message of Christ crucified for our salva¬tion was brought to him faithfully during his final months on earth by the pastors of Holy Cross, in particular Pastor Mark Neubacher, who will now speak that saving word at Don’s funeral service on Tuesday, February 27, at 11:00 a.m. at Holy Cross, 3425 Crescent Avenue, Fort Wayne, with calling one hour prior. Don’s body will be committed to the earth at Highland Park Cemetery, Fort Wayne, in the certain anticipation of the resurrection on the day of Christ’s return. His prayer would be that all who have known him would also know the Savior and share in his joy. Memorial donations may be given to the Concordia Theological Seminary Student Aid Fund (6600 North Clinton Street, Fort Wayne, 46825), or the Allen County SPCA.
