

George S. Haynes, 47, went home to be with the Lord on May 5, 2010, after a lengthy illness. Born in Fort Wayne on August 27, 1962, George graduated from Elmhurst High School and IPFW earning a Bachelor’s Degree in communications. George began his employment career as a proud employee of the last independent pharmacy in Fort Wayne, Bushman Drug Store on State Street. He was a courier for the pharmacy. George was also employed by KPC Media Group/Kendallville News Sun for 24 years as Night Editor. He was an award winning headline writer. He attended County Line Church of God in Auburn, where he was active in the Youth program, was a Sunday school teacher, a small group leader and was a mission’s trip volunteer. “George was a loving husband, father and friend, well loved by all who had the privilege to know him.” He was a bicycle enthusiast, enjoyed vacationing with his family, hiking at Turkey Run State Park, listening to the old WOWO Little Red Bard program and was an avid reader.Surviving are his wife, Carol, and their two sons, Michael, at Anderson University and Matthew, at Northrop High School; his mother Harriet, of Fort Wayne; brothers, Gary, of Bluffton and Victor (Sandy) of Fort Wayne. He was preceded in death by his father, Victor Sr. and sister, Peggy Klepper. Service is Tuesday, May 11, 2010 at County Line Church of God, 7726 N. County Line Road, Auburn, IN, with calling one hour prior to service at the church. Pastor Stuart Kruse and Pastor Dane Kruse officiating. Calling also from 2 – 4 and 6 – 8 pm Monday at Hockemeyer & Miller Funeral Home, 6131 St. Joe Road. Burial in Highland Park Cemetery. Preferred memorials to the Education Fund for Michael & Matthew.
