Gerald “Jerry” Lee Girardot, 81, passed away on Monday, May 26, 2025. Born in Fort Wayne, Indiana, on September 2, 1943, to parents Cletus and Wilma (Kilgor) Girardot, Jerry was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and uncle. Jerry was a 1961 graduate of Monroeville High School. He was a proud veteran of the United States Army. After serving, he would spend many years working for General Electric before retiring in 1997. Jerry would marry his dearest wife, Dianne (Heaston) Girardot, on December 6, 1969, and the two created a loving legacy with their daughter, DeDe Girardot. For a time, Jerry was the honored Commander for American Legion Post 377 in Woodburn, Indiana. He remained an active member of the Legion for over 50 years for both Post 420 and Post 409. Jerry was never late to anything. Many who knew Jerry will always remember he would be at his happiest when he was golfing. He also enjoyed keeping a well-manicured yard, mowing (DeDe is not allowed to do) and landscaping when he could. Jerry also enjoyed bowling with his brother and playing for the General Electric Softball League. On Sundays, he enjoyed kicking back and watching the NASCAR race. Jerry is survived by his daughter, DeDe Girardot; significant other, Grammy Jane Marquardt; granddaughter, Daisa Johnson and Desi Girardot; 6 great-grandchildren; siblings, Dorothy (James) Webb, Betty Gerardot, Anna Mackin, Greg (Carolyn) Girardot, and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his wife, Dianne Girardot; siblings, Jeanette Bierbaum, Maxine Wyss, Carroll Gill, Bonnie Vedder, Joyce Webb, Cletus Girardot, John Girardot; and parents Cletus and Wilma Girardot. A funeral service will be held for Jerry on Wednesday, June 4, 2025, at 11AM, with visitation one hour prior at Hockemeyer and Miller Funeral Home 6131 St. Joe Road, Fort Wayne, Indiana, 46835. There will be evening visitation on Tuesday, June 3, 2025, from 2PM-7PM at Hockemeyer and Miller Funeral Home 6131 St. Joe Road, Fort Wayne, Indiana, 46835. Jerry will be laid to rest at Highland Park Cemetery. He will be forever missed.
