GORDON H. HIATT, passed away Saturday, Nov. 8, 2014, at Golden Years Homestead. He was born July 12, 1926, the son of the late Russell and Della (Hadley) Hiatt, in Spring Valley, Ohio. Gordon was a World War II Army Veteran and a graduate of The Ohio State University. He spent most of his life working for Bordens Company, in Dayton, Ohio and Fort Wayne. He also worked for GCI Inc. and Phoenix Industries in Fort Wayne. He was a member of Glacier Ridge Lions Club, Maumee Lodge F&A Masons, VFW Post 82, and the American Legion. He was a fan of The Ohio State Buckeyes and the Cincinatti Reds, and was a member of Trinity English Lutheran Church. "He will be greatly missed by his large loving family". He was married to his first wife, Joan DeHaven in 1948 to 1966, and they had three children. He married Carol Darnell Rider in 1967 until her death in 1991, and they had one son. He then married Ailene Robbins Maldeney in 1992 to present; also surviving are his children, Julie Carrier (Mike Cole) of Huntington, Sara Hiatt (Mike Bloom) of Seattle, Wash., Janice Hiatt, and Paul (Kim) Hiatt of Friday Harbor, Wash.; and three grandchildren (with one on the way); and two great-grandchildren; step-children, Sherry (Bob) Weeks of Arcola, Dennis (Mary) Rider of Fremont, Russell (Diane) Rider of Sacramento, Calif., Karla (Darrick) Snyder and Tina Smith, both of Fort Wayne, Don Maldeney of Auburn and Mark (Amy) Maldeney of Angola; as well as 21 step-grandchildren; and four step-great-grandchildren. Private family services are being held at a later date. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be given to the Fort Wayne Police Athletic League or the American Diabetes Association.
