Herbert "Butch" L. Sheetz Jr.

Herbert L. “Butch” Sheetz Jr., 77, of Fort Wayne, passed away at Heritage Park on Monday, May 2, 2022. Born on March 24, 1945, he was the son of the late Herbert L. Sheetz Sr. and Dorthy (Swango) Sheetz. Herbert married the love of his life, Donna (Bartl), on November 21, 1964, and together they built a life in Fort Wayne and raised their family. Herbert worked at Consolidated Freightways as a truck driver for 20 years until his retirement in 2002. In his free time, he enjoyed fishing, boating, walks with his dogs, and playing cards. He loved his family and friends and enjoyed the time they spent together. Also, Herbert loved being a grandfather and being around his grandkids. He will be greatly missed by family and friends alike. Herbert is survived by his wife, Donna Sheetz; sons, Danial Sheetz and Tracy Sheetz; daughters, Sherry (Michael) Hartman and Lori Sheetz; grandchildren, Kayla, Ashley, Brittney, Alyssa, Nicole, Tristin, Andrew, and Jessica. Also privileged to have shared in his life are his five great-grandchildren. A funeral service for Herbert will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, May 12, 2022, with visitation one hour prior, at Hockemeyer & Miller Funeral Home located at 6131 Saint Joe Road, Fort Wayne, Indiana 46835. Visitation will also be held from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 11, 2022 at Hockemeyer & Miller Funeral Home. Herbert will be laid to rest at Greenlawn Memorial Park located at 6600 Covington Road, Fort Wayne, Indiana 46804 following the funeral service.
