Ida Dawn (Elam) Cambron, age 79, of Monroeville, IN, passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 28, 2021 at Adams Heritage Nursing Home. She was born on January 12, 1942 in Akron, Ohio to Martha and Joseph Elam.

Ida's family lived in numerous cities while she was growing up because of her father's job. She was a graduate of Somerset High School in Somerset, KY in 1960. The family finally settled in Fort Wayne, Indiana. There she met her future husband, Jim Cambron. They were married on February 3, 1968. Ida worked for the Allen County Library and then was a homemaker after her children were born. After they had grown, she worked for Fort Wayne Community Schools as a teacher's aide, loving every minute of it. Ida also belonged to the Twilight Twenty Homemakers Club and made lifelong friends there and enjoyed all the outings they did. After she and Jim retired, they moved to Lake Helen, FL, and spent 10 years there. She loved being in Florida, as she was a part of the Red Hat Society, always attending clubhouse events at the Villas where they lived and loved going shopping with her friends. They also celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary while they were there. Jim passed away in February 2020. She then moved back to Indiana in June of 2020. Ida is survived by her daughter, Jennifer (John) Cabral; son Andy (Michelle) Cambron; granddaughter, Brittany (Brandon) Nestleroad; grandsons, A.J. Cambron and J.J. Cabral; and one great-granddaughter, Alice; brother, Joseph (Rosie) Elam; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Jenny,
I was so sorry to read of your mom's passing, I know how close you two were. I didn't know your dad had passed too, sorry I missed that. I know we aren't in touch at all, but please know you have come across my mind alot through the years. Please know you and your family will be in my thoughts and prayers.

When my sister and I were young we were very close. My dad was transferred so much we became each other's best friend. Being 3 years younger than Ida she often tried to kill me, which I usually deserved. One memory I still laugh about was being in the 1st grade at Sacred Heart School, Ida was in the 3 rd grade. She saw me crying in the hallway at lunchtime and asked why? I told her one of her classmates had taken my lunch money away from me. A few minutes later she brought my lunch money back and her classmate was in the hall crying. The funny part (now) was when I got off the bus she punched me for letting him take my money. Love Always Sis
