James "Jamie" Daniel Herstad Jr.

James “Jamie” Daniel Herstad Jr., 55, of Fort Wayne, passed away on Sunday, August 21, 2022 at Parkview Regional Medical Center. Born on July 25, 1967 in Fort Wayne, he was the son of the late James Herstad Sr. and Judith (Daugherty) Herstad, who survives. Jamie was a graduate of Wayne High School and worked as a machine operator for the DANA Corporation for 25 years. When not working, he enjoyed afternoon canoeing trips, fishing, hunting, and spending time with his two dogs. Jamie had a big heart and a great sense of humor, often making everyone around him laugh at his jokes. He liked to help people and was always trying to lend a hand to those less fortunate than himself. Jamie is survived by his mother, Judith Herstad; sisters, Roxanne Jacobs, Peggy (Ed) Bransfield, Cindi (Tom) Baughman, and Chris (Jeff) Tipton; brothers, Dan (Joyce) Herstad and Mike (Tammy) Herstad; several nieces and nephews; special caregiver, Cynthia Young; and beloved dogs Max and Molly. He was preceded in death by his father, James Herstad Sr.; brothers, Bill Jacobs III. and Randy Herstad; and grandparents, Caryl and Rosemary Tuttle. A funeral service for Jamie will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Monday, August 29, 2022, with visitation from 10:00 a.m. until noon at Hockemeyer & Miller Funeral Home, 6131 Saint Joe Road, Fort Wayne, IN 46835.
